Another thrilling and unpredictable murder mystery from Jennifer Joy. The first surprise was the victim... Did not see that coming.However, if you as I did, thought the misunderstandings between ODC was at an end by the first book... you will be disappointed. The first altercation I found rather funny. Darcy put his foot in his mouth or rather, he should have put his foot in his mouth instead of talking. The second, Elizabeth's ability to wilfully misunderstand was a bit excessive in my humble opinion.
To me, the romance suffer at the expense of the murder mystery which is a bit disappointing. 4,5 stars rounded up to 5.
Darcy leaves Meryton for a fortnight and Elizabeth is anticipating his return although she is not all that certain how she feels about him. Kittys wedding is in its final stages and the militia is about to move.
During a military parade, a murder is committed and Meryton is at an uproar once again. A bit repetitive with Darcy facing responsibility while trying to discourage Elizabeth in the same effort.
We are introduced to a new character in the magistrate who adds a twist to Lady C.
The great lady ascend into Meryton with her daughter, creating havoc on her way.
Heartily recommend this book.

Another murder mystery with Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth sleuthing. This one affects the Bennett family and was done during a peak time in Meryton. Keeps you guessing until the end. Ready to read the next one.
After reading of the murder of Mr. Wickham which kept me guessing I was excited to read the second mystery which kept me guessing to the very end. Any one who enjoys reading Pride and Prejudice variations will enjoy reading this book it is very good.
Reading this mystery I was completely surprised at the end of the story as to who the murderer is. I recommend this mystery story to all readers who like to figure out who done it and guess correctly or not .
I read the first book awhile back, and was excited when I came across The Indomitable Miss Elizabeth. I enjoyed both of these well written books immensely!. The characters and story line is fantastic. Thank you Jennifer Joy for your wonderful talent. I cannot wait to read the next in the series.
Another great book about Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet with a mystery. My favorite couple must work together to solve a murder while falling in love. Obstacles abound and I found humor in the portrayal of some of characters. I’m usually open to having a divergence from the original P&P otherwise it would be boring. I recommend the audiobook also, the reader makes all the characters come to life.
Of all the P&P variations I read, and they are many, my least favorite are the murder mysteries. Well, I really detest the zombie versions, but I don't read them. I have an unfortunate habit when I get a book on I read it in short order, often staying up late into the night. Not so here. I've been so holiday busy I read this over the course of a week.
That suggests the book was not riveting enough, in spite of the murder mysteries. But in fact, I'd read a page or two and conk out. Why do I dislike P&P murder mysteries? They muddy the tale. Austen would be appalled to see her works turned out as penny dreadful.
This was not a penny dreadful, true. The murder and its denouement allowed for some character embellishment in Mr. Bennett, and the addition of several other characters. I concede that murder and mystery also allow for wider range and variations on Austen's works.
This work was fairly well written, characters nicely drawn, and there was a minimum of pirating of Austen's own words. And though it didn't keep me awake reading, I t was sufficiently stimulating g to keep me reading. And I am not a patient reader. Hence the 4 stars. If the writer could keep out
the murder and ease up on the first person narrative, this could easily g o 5 stars.
It was a fun murder mystery. In my opinion and entreating plot, good paced and while I had knew who the murderer was before the ending of the book I enjoyed how the author wrapped up the book. Using Mrs. Bennett's obnoxious personality to the plots advantage was innovative. It made me feel sorry for her inability to see how she affected others. The synopsis provides enough enticing to this book and I absolutely hate hate hate
spoilers I will end my review here.
I read this and set it aside as I wanted to write a positive review and I wanted to remember to check out her other books when I had time. I am looking forward to reading the other murder books in the Meryton Mystery Series.
