A really well written book that had some interesting twists on the vampire genre. This is an adult book and calling it a vampire story is a bit misleading as the vampires are a vehicle for a really great story. What an interesting twist at the end of the book . great book. loved how the writer has told the story in the right amount of detail. constance is portrayed the way a vampire should be unlike the horibly written twilight series. she sounds beautiful, powerful and sadistic which is what anyone would do once you recieved extraordinary power. i would love to see this book made into a tv show. great book emma cant wait till the next book is out. more importantly the battles are explained the way they should be. David
I would not read this book based on the sample and the author's poorly written biography. She has a number of grammatical errors in her biography, and the writing in the sample chapter of the novel is stilted and juvenile. The character is not sympathetic in these first pages - I found the introduction to her to be off-putting. I think the author should spend more time learning about writing from real professionals before putting her work out there. She has more to learn about the mechanics of writing and the craft of a good story.
Examples of poor grammar from her bio "I awoken something in me that day." "The character's flowed from the ink."
The dialogue in the sample is very stiff. The characters don't sound like real people. Constance is a bit too "woe is me" and even stupid for me to root for her. I was grossed out by her activities in the first pages. I don't think the author has enough detailed knowledge of the time period she chose for the setting for it to feel authentic.
I came across this book because Facebook advertised it as something I'd like, but from what I've seen, it isn't.
